The Chetnole Art Group is a private art group which meets in the Village Hall on Tuesday mornings. Artists and aspiring artists of all levels are invited to join this established art group which has been active in the village for many years.

The members of the present group, who come from Chetnole, Yetminster, Bradford Abbas and Leigh, are keen to welcome new members and especially members from surrounding villages. Many of us have started art very recently, often never having done anything artistic since school but now finding that it is a delightful leisure activity.

Our tutor is presently Laurence Belbin, a Sherborne artist, who has many years experience as an art teacher and mentor. He enjoys drawing and paints mainly in oils and exhibits in London, Cornwall and other locations. His forte is painting in the countryside around Dorset and Sherbone in particular. We also invite other artists to give workshops from time to time.

The Chetnole Art Group is unique in that it employs an artist to teach each week. This means that the group members can experience different methods of painting and drawing, paint a large selection of subjects and get group and individual tuition at each session. It holds a bi- annual exhibition and members also enter their work in local art shows and we plan to continue this tradition. This art group runs throughout most of the year, working indoors and outside when the weather permits. We take a break through the summer months.

If you are interested in joining this friendly and enjoyable group, please contact Rosemary Burden on 01935 872256 and she will forward details of dates, costs and payment and an outline of the proposed course.
